Life Is Strange finale: Episode 5 aiming for 20 October release
Dontnod Entertainment has announced the fifth episode of Life Is Strange, called Polarized, is targeting a release on 20 October. It will be the final episode of the decision-led adventure game and looks to finish what has been a surprise hit, both critically and commercially.
The surprise announcement comes roughly two months after the release of episode 4, Dark Room. With a gap of roughly two months between each episode to date, Dontnod clearly wanted to avoid frustrating fans by giving a firm date earlier than usual.
On the blog of publishers Square Enix, producer Luc Baghadoust said: "Many things can change in the lead up to release but the team are working really hard to try and hit this date. We know the wait may be a bit longer than some of you were hoping for but we want to ensure Episode 5 is the best it can be.
"Your tweets, comments and messages have kept us going through this busy stage of development and we can't thank you enough for your continued support." Baghadoust also revealed development of the final episode is almost complete, hopefully leaving plenty of time for polishing the final product.
Life Is Strange started positively and ended its second episode with one of the gaming moments of 2015. Episode three disappointed us a little but delighted others, while episode four showed a game seriously verging on something truly special. Should the finale tie everything together and deliver drama to match episode four, then Life Is Strange – if it is not already – will be a game-of-the-year contender.
