Two years after the release of their album V in 2014, Maroon 5 has finally dropped a new single Don't Wanna Know. The Beny Blanco-produced track features Kendrick Lamar. It was made available for purchase on iTunes on 11 October.

The 3.33-minute tropical house number has a breezy tune mixed with EDM beats and brings to mind Mike Posner's I Took A Pill In Ibiza. Lamar contributes a single verse to the song with the lines: "No more police stop/No more hashtag boo'd up screenshots/No more tryin' make me jealous on your birthday/You know just how I make you better on your birthday, oh."

David Dobkin, who directed the video for Sugar along with films Shanghai Knights and Wedding Crashers, was brought on board to work on the video for the song which Maroon 5 plans to release on 14 October on The Today Show. The first television performance of the song will be on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on 3 November and fans are hopeful that the track heralds the release of a new album in the near future.

Three of the singles from V – Maps, Animals and Sugar – reached the Hot 100's top 10 while This Summer peaked at No 23 on the charts.

The band is currently on tour across the US up till 16 October but had to make some changes to their schedule following the birth of Adam Levine's daughter Dusty Rose with wife Behati Prinsloo on 21 September.
