Not bad, eh? A repeat of last year's final awaits with Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid to collide in the pick of the quarter-final ties.
Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain also meet again having also duelled in the group stages of the competition. The Ligue 1 champions clinched a thrilling 3-2 victory in the first of their encounters in September, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar all scored to seal a 3-1 win in the return fixture.
Elsewhere, Serie A champions will be aiming to do what Arsenal couldn't and get past Monaco, while Bayern Munich will fancy their chances against Porto.
Real Madrid are looking to become the first team to successfully defend the Champions League but will need to drastically improve on their last 16 performances to keep that dream alive.
Los Blancos brought a 2-0 lead with them back to the Bernabeu for their second leg clash with Schalke but a woeful display saw them lose 4-3 on the night. An aggregate score of 5-4 was enough to see them progress, but Carlo Ancelotti's side were resoundingly booed off the pitch at the final whistle.
Bayern Munich lost their sparkle in Europe last year as they were dismantled by Real Madrid at the semi-final stage. While their defeat to Manchester City in the group stages of the competition blots their copy book somewhat, Pep Guardiola's side reinforced their status as one of the competition's favourites with a demolition job on Shakhtar Donetsk in the second leg of their last 16 clash, putting seven past the Ukrainian outfit.
The eight teams awaiting their quarter-final fate have amassed a total of 23 Champions League or European Cup triumphs in their time with Paris Saint-Germain the only side left yet to have reached a final. Having ended Chelsea's hopes of winning a second Champions League, Laurent Blanc and his charges will feel confident of rectifying that in the coming months.
England's mass exodus from European competition was completed last night as Everton bowed of the Europa League in rather embarrassing fashion, throwing away a 2-1 first leg win to lose 6-4 on aggregate to Dynamo Kiev.
Arsenal and Manchester City players were able to put their passports away until the summer after their elimination from the Champions League was confirmed this week, while Chelsea are still licking their wounds after their exit at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain 10 days ago.
For the second time in three seasons, there are no Premier League sides in the final eight of the Champions League. Including the Europa League and its previous incarnations in that and it is the first time in 22 years. Most damningly, not one of those sides eliminated can feel too hard done by about that.
But never mind all that. For Europe's elite, success beckons. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Porto, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Monaco will learn their fate this morning at 11:00 (GMT). The draw for the Europa League follows at 12:00 (GMT).
