Redknapp: Liverpool And United's £15m Midfield Target Destined For Big Things
Harry Redknapp believes that Manchester United and Liverpool target Will Hughes has what it takes to star for a top Premier League club.
The Derby County midfielder has been attracting interest from numerous clubs and as Queens Park Rangers prepare to play Steve McClaren's side, Redknapp is fully aware of the danger presented by Hughes.
Liverpool confirmed this week that they are monitoring the youngster though the side insist they won't be making a deal to sign him in the January transfer window. United have also consistently been linked to the player and Redknapp claims that Hughes is destined for big things in the Premier League.
"He's a real player for the future," he told reporters. "He's a young talent, he's got the ability to go right to the top. He's one for the future for a top Premier League club."
Hughes progressed through the Derby youth team and they fought hard to keep hold of him in the summer as the side target promotion to the top flight.
The club are reportedly rating him at £15m but would hope that even if they are forced to sell they would be able to bring Hughes back on loan until the end of the season.
Manchester United are believed to be on the lookout for up and coming youngsters as David Moyes looks to rebuild the side in the absence of Sir Alex Ferguson.
But he will face a tough fight from Liverpool, who have admitted they have sent scouts to watch the Surrey-born starlet.
