Liverpool: Poland starlet Piotr Zielinski reveals he has discussed transfer with Jurgen Klopp
Udinese midfielder Piotr Zielinski says he has already held talks with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp over a move to Anfield this summer. The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Empoli for a second consecutive season but his rise in Serie A caught the attention of the Liverpool boss.
The versatile midfielder was tentatively linked with a move to the Premier League in January and has now confirmed Liverpool's interest in his services. "There is a lot of truth in rumours about Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp is interested in me, we had some talks," Zielinski told Sportowe Fakty, Goal reported.
"I'm not thinking too much about it right now though, I've still got few games to play for Empoli and after that there is still the Euros in France." Zielinksi, who can play across the midfield and in a more advanced role behind the striker, has not passed up the opportunity to discuss a move to Anfield since he was initially linked with the Reds in January.
The Poland international has also discussed the possibility of playing alongside Philippe Coutinho on Merseyside, confident the pair would strike up an understanding on the pitch. "I really like Coutinho's style of play," Zielinski said. "I watch him closely, and it would be great to play alongside him. I'm sure we could be a good duo on the pitch, but we'll have to wait and see what happens."
In January, Serbian midfielder Marko Grujic became the first signing of the Klopp regime. A month later, the club confirmed a deal had been struck to sign Schalke defender Joel Matip, who will join the Reds when his contract expires in June.
FC Cologne and Germany full-back Jonas Hector has also admitted he would find it very difficult to turn down a move to Liverpool if Jurgen Klopp was to reach out to him.
