Liverpool are preparing a major splash in the summer with moves for Bayern Munich midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri, Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand and Southampton duo Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren, according to the Telegraph.

The Reds are looking to build on the brilliant end to their Premier League campaign having finished in second spot, two points behind winners Manchester City. They had led the title race for major parts in the second half of the season.

However, with Champions league football set to come their way in the upcoming season, Brendan Rodgers is looking to expand his squad and bring in more quality so that his team can put in a sustained challenge on all quarters through the length of the season.

Shaqiri has not been a regular member of the starting line-up for Pep Guardiola's side and is looking to make a move out of the club in the transfer window to secure more game time. The Swiss international is expected to be available for a fee in the range of £10m and will be a much cheaper alternative to Adam Lallana who is reportedly their priority in the summer.

Lallana has been the standout player for Southampton this season, scoring nine goals and assisting six in the league and was named as part of the PFA Team of the Year for his consistency throughout the campaign.

He will slot in behind Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge who together have been the most feared partnership in the league this season, scoring more than 50 goals between themselves.

Rodgers is also looking to spruce up his defence which has leaked goals in this season with moves for Lallana's teammate Dejan Lovren and Chelsea left-back Ryan Bertrand. Lovren has been a beast in the backline for the Saints and will be a brilliant addition for Liverpool who have lacked defensive cohesion.

Meanwhile, Bertrand will provide good cover for Luis Enrique, who has been out with injury for the better part of this season.
