Liverpool, who will be looking for their second piece of silverware this season, having lifted the Carling Cup earlier this season, have moved into the semi-finals of the FA Cup, with a 2-1 win over Stoke.

The Reds, who have had a very unstable season, took an early lead. Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez drilled a superb low shot past the Potters' goalie Thomas Sorensen.

Stoke struck back, however, after just three minutes, with former Liverpool forward Peter Crouch scoring.

After the end of the first half, both teams desperately began looking for a lead and soon enough Liverpool's Stewart Downing managed to put his side in front, just before the hour mark.

Stoke City tried their best for a second equalizer but this time the Reds managed to hold their nerve, booking their place at Wembley for the semi-finals of this competition.
