Barcelona are desperately looking for a top forward to partner Lionel Messi and Neymar. The club is reportedly monitoring Liverpool star Luis Suarez, Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie and Chelsea's Eden Hazard as suitable choices.

After a season without silverware the Catalan club are embarking on a huge overhaul to reclaim their dominance around Europe.

They have already completed the signing of goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and midfielder Ivan Rakitic while also bringing youngsters Rafinha and Gerard Deulofeu back to the Nou Camp after their successive loan spells at Celta Vigo and Everton.

And now their next target is securing a consistent forward to complete the attacking trio - as neither Alexis Sanchez and Pedro made the impact expected last season.

Manchester City star Sergio Aguero was new manager Luis Enrique's first-choice alongside Borussia Dormund's Marco Reus but with both clubs refusing to sell their stars they have been forced to look elsewhere for alternatives.

Former Real Madrid star Gonzalo Higuain emerged as a big candidate but Napoli has quickly declined any interest to negotiate a deal – after paying Real Madrid €40m to secure his services last summer.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reports Barcelona are now considering Suarez, Van Persie and Hazard as alternatives.

Mundo Deportivo claims that even though Liverpool are unlikely to negotiate a deal for the Uruguayan star Barcelona may tempt them by offering Alexis Sanchez as part of the deal. Brendan Rodgers is said to be a huge fan of the Chilean international.

The report adds Barcelona have been monitoring Van Persie for a while as his future at Old Trafford was uncertain under David Moyes – but Louis van Gaal's appointment as manager makes his exit very unlikely.

Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo claims Hazard has also emerged as a candidate – noiting that even though negotiations with Chelsea would be tough the Belgium international had some disagreement over tactics with Jose Mourinho last season and that the Portuguese boss has already sold other stars like Juan Mata in the past.
