Liverpool 4-3 Borussia Dortmund (5-4 on aggregate), Europa League quarter-final as it happened
- Injury-time header from Dejan Lovren seals Liverpool comeback
- Dortmund led 3-1 on the night after Marco Reus' 57th minute strike
- Divock Origi, Philippe Coutinho and Mamadou Sakho all struck for home side
- Liverpool join Villarreal and Shakhtar Donetsk in semi-final draw
- Sevilla vs Athletic Bilbao gone to extra time
A few updates from the rest of our games; Villarreal are cruising into the semi-finals, they lead 4-1 on the night, 6-2 on aggregate, while a goal from Viktor Kovalenko has extended Shakhtar's lead against Braga. It remains finely poised in Spain where both Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao have scored on the night, but the Andaluscians hold a slender lead over two legs.
Sevilla 1-1 Athletic Bilbao (3-2 on aggregate)
Sparta Prague 1-4 Villarreal (2-6 on aggregate)
Shakhtar Donetsk 3-0 Braga (5-1 on aggregate)
This is promising from Liverpool. Coutinho is given space to run into and sneaks a ball into Firmino who twists and turns inside the box, looking to find a drive with his right foot. Instead, he cuts it back to Lallana, but he gets it all wrong, connecting with nothing but air with a wild swing, allowing Dortmund to clear.
Dortmund lead! Coutinho's pass to Moreno is a loose one and it invites Dortmund forward on the counter. The ball is played to Kagawa who drives at the Liverpool defence before pinging a pass into Castro. He lifts superb ball over to Aubameyang, with Sakho playing three Dortmund players onside, but his volley is brilliantly saved by Mignolet. No matter, Mkhitaryan is on the scene to follow it up and tuck it home. Terrific from Dortmund.
Five minutes until kick-off, here is another look at those teams starting tonight.
Liverpool team to face Dortmund: Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Sakho, Moreno, Can, Milner, Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino, Origi
Dortmund team to face Liverpool: Weidenfeller, Piszczek, Sokratis, Hummels, Schmelzer, Weigl, Castro, Mkhitaryan, Kagawa, Reus, Aubameyang
Liverpool vs Dortmund is one of four quarter-final second leg matches taking place tonight. Elsewhere, Sevilla hold a slender lead over La Liga rivals Athletic Bilbao, while Shakhtar Donetsk looking to dot I's and cross T's at home to Braga. Villarreal secured a narrow 2-1 win at home against Sparta Prague last week, they will look to defend that tonight.
Thursday's Europa League fixtures
Liverpool vs Borussia Dortmund (1-1 on aggregate)
Sevilla vs Athletic Bilbao (2-1 on aggregate)
Shakhtar Donetsk vs Braga (2-1 on aggregate)
Sparta Prague vs Villarreal (1-2 on aggregate)
With the tie finely poised at 1-1, Jurgen Klopp isn't holding back. He's named a very attacking line-up this evening.
Thomas Tuchel meanwhile has made two changes to the side that were held at the Westfalenstadion last Thursday, with Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Shinji Kagawa replacing Sven Bender and Erik Durm.
BREAKING: Divock Origi is preferred up front over Daniel Sturridge. Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho return to the starting XI as expected.
Liverpool team to face Dortmund: Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Sakho, Moreno, Can, Milner, Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino, Origi.
Subs: Ward, Sturridge, Lucas, Allen, Skrtel, Smith, Ojo.
The biggest selection dilemma facing Jurgen Klopp ahead of kick-off is whether he deploys Divock Origi or Daniel Sturridge in attack. It was the Belgian who scored the critical goal away in Dortmund last week, scoring twice off the bench in the 4-1 win over Stoke City three days later. Sturridge also got his name on the scoresheet in that game, but it may not be enough for him to regain his spot tonight.
There are always difficult decisions. This is more a moment where you can make no mistakes, because everyone is in good shape. It's only difficult for the players to accept. They feel good, they are confident, and if they are not involved then that's a problem. We have more than 16 players in good shape.
"It's not just about formation. We have different possibilities. No final decision until now. We have to make the decision. It's not about how many strikers you have on the pitch.
After last week's homecoming in Dortmund, Jurgen Klopp has the chance to dump his former employers out of the Europa League this evening. Divock Origi's first-half strike left Liverpool in a commanding position in the Westfalenstadion last Thursday, despite Mats Hummels' equaliser on the night, and that priceless away goal gives them a slender advantage going into the second leg this evening.
Whoever progresses tonight will be considered one of the favourites to win the Europa League and secure a place in next season's Champions League. For Dortmund, their place is already secured by virtue of their league position. For Liverpool, it would cap a wonderful turnaround after an underwhelming campaign.
