Liverpool vs Crystal Palace, Premier League 2016/17: Where to watch live, preview, betting odds and possible XI
Crystal Palace have won five of their last seven games.
Liverpool host Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday, 23 April as the Reds look to secure their position in the top four with a much needed win.
Where to watch live
Kick-off is set for 4:30 pm BST. Live coverage of the game will be on Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 1 HD.
Overview
Liverpool have a host of injuries to worry about in central defence, with Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan and Lucas Leiva all doubtful for the game. Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana are also out with foot and thigh injuries respectively, while Sadio Mane is out for the rest of the season. Daniel Sturridge too is an injury doubt after missing training.
They have managed some good form of late, winning their last two away fixtures at West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City to all but secure a top-four spot.
Palace have been in brilliant form but will be without the services of on-loan defender Mamadou Sakho, who is not eligible to play against his parent club. James Tomkins is back fit and is in shout for a start, while Loic Remy and James McArthur are also in contention.
Sam Allardyce has shown his magic yet again, winning five and drawing one of the last seven games, which has taken them seven points off the drop zone with a game in hand to play. Included are wins against Chelsea and Arsenal, while tough fixtures against Manchester City, United, Tottenham Hotspur are on the horizon following the game against the Reds.
What Managers Say
Jurgen Klopp on Benteke: "When the ball is in the air, he is the main threat. We felt it a lot of times here when we trained together. He is in a good run. Like it is always when you play against Zlatan (Ibrahimovic) and these kind of strikers – tall, good with their back to the goal – you have to avoid the crosses and you have to avoid the passes. That's how it works.
"If we let them cross 50 balls it's pretty likely Christian will have a few dangerous headers. That's not his only strength, of course, but that's a real strength.
"You have to avoid passes in this area, but it's not only for him. If you are only concentrated on Christian then (Wilfried) Zaha and (Andros) Townsend are around you. That's really one of the best offensive lines in the Premier League. Then they have all the experience and size in their backline. We respect this. We know how to play against it, but nevertheless we have to show it." (via Mirror)
Sam Allardyce on Benteke: "I don't want him to get over zealous about trying to do something a bit special that may harm the team's performance. Trying to do that last dribble or trying to do that last flick or trick to show (Liverpool) what they might be missing. Great if it comes off, but if it doesn't it can be costly.
"If you go back to one of your old clubs you always want to show what you might be missing.
"I'd like to see him carry on playing the way he has been, certainly in the last six, seven or eight games. Since he came back from international duty, the goals are coming back." (via Sky Sports)
