Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo out for a month with back injury
Jurgen Klopp was unsure whether to allow Ojo to leave the club on loan in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool have suffered an injury blow as they will be without the services of Sheyi Ojo due to a back problem. He has had a busy schedule in this calendar year after being recalled by Jurgen Klopp from his loan spell at Wolves in January.
The 19-year-old made 11 appearances for the Merseyside club in the second half of last season. He was also part of the England Under-19s in the European championship, where the Young Lions made it to the last four of the tournament.
Following his return from international duties, Ojo joined Liverpool for the pre-season tour in America. He decided against taking a summer break and according to the Liverpool Echo, the workload resulted in the injury setback.
He missed the pre-season fixtures against Barcelona and FC Mainz as he complained about a back problem. The latest scan results have revealed the teenager suffered a fracture in his back, which will keep him on the sidelines until mid-September.
Klopp's side will take on Tottenham Hotspur, Premier League champions Leicester City and Antonio Conte's Chelsea after their league clash against Burnley on 20 August. In addition to this, they also take on Burton Albion in the League Cup clash. Ojo is likely to miss all these fixtures and will look to recover from injury as soon as possible.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager earlier admitted that he was unsure whether to allow Ojo to leave the club on loan in the summer transfer window. However, a latest injury setback could change the situation and he may continue at Anfield.
"I don't know. We will have to see. Sheyi is a wonderful player that's for sure and his future is 100 per cent at Liverpool. We don't have to make decisions so early," Sky Sports quoted Klopp as saying.
"We have time and we have to use the time. We have had some injuries. We need to make the boys as fit as possible. Ojo has only been with us for five days after coming from the tournament with England Under-19s," he added.
