London Olympics 2012: Kate Middleton Flies Solo at Closing Ceremony as Prince William Returns to Work
London Olympics fan Prince William had to miss the closing ceremony because of RAF work commitments - leaving his wife, Kate Middleton, to fly solo.
Instead, the 30-year-old duchess had the company of her brother-in-law and fellow Olympic ambassador Prince Harry, who represented the Queen on the spectacular final night in Stratford.
Kate wore a printed silk Whistles dress, which she debuted during the diamond jubilee celebrations in June, to watch various British acts including the Spice Girls, Jessie J and George Michael take the stage.
"They will stay in the hearts and minds of people all over the world for a very long time to come," said Harry said of the London 2012 Games.
"I congratulate all the athletes who have competed. They have shown us that there are few boundaries to human endeavour."
Harry has been doing plenty of bonding with his sister-in-law during the Olympics. The pair met Team GB athletes at the Olympic Park last week, and were also spotted sharing a joke at the equestrian arena.
