London Beer Week: How does malted barley get turned into a perfectly poured pint?
There are 35 million beer-drinkers in the UK, guzzling their way through an incredible 15,000 pints a minute on average. With three breweries popping up every week and the beloved hops-based drink back in fashion, never has there been a better time for lovers of the grain.
As London Beer Week nears its conclusion this weekend, IBTimes UK was invited to Suffolk, home of the brewer Adnams. The 144-year-old company – which provides its finest wares to hundreds of pubs across the capital – expects to shift 100,000 barrels of its 21 varieties of beer this year, mainly to establishments in the south east of England. Watch the video above to see how head brewer Fergus Fitzgerald creates his beautiful beer.
