London: Body found in suitcase pulled from Grand Union Canal
An investigation has been launched after a body in a suitcase was recovered from a canal in west London.
Scotland Yard's marine policing team and members of the fire bridge pulled the body out of the Grand Union Canal near Delamere Terrace in Maida Vale.
The body has yet to be identified and no arrests have been made. Police said they are treating the death as suspicious.
A Met Police spokesperson said: "The death is being treated as suspicious and detectives from Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.
"We are working to discover the identity of the deceased."
A post-mortem examination is due to be held. The canal was closed for several hour following the discovery of the body on Sunday 10 May.
