London Fashion Week: Behind the 'personalised' Topshop Unique catwalk
The Topshop Unique London Fashion Week autumn/winter 2016 show was a celebrity-packed affair, with it taking place at London's Tate Britain. Supermodels Karlie Kloss, Lara Stone and Suki Waterhouse were among the front row stars. Topshop creative director Kate Phelan gave some insight in to what went in to creating the show.
"This season, we've really focused on the girls being their own person, so instead of having an army of girls all looking identical, these girls have been slightly personalised," she said.
The show featured oversized military fur-collar bomber jackets, oversized knits and skinny long johns. Embellished velvet slip dresses and corseted minis added a touch of glamour to eveningwear.
"We really want their hair and make-up to really enhance their individuality; a celebration of the strength of women and the power of women. We love to play with the high/low world – the boy, the girl, the tomboy, the sexy girl, and she's always playing a role that combines those things," Phelan said. "The girl creates her own style and that's the power of Topshop Unique: that you create your own style."
