Louis van Gaal: I Have Already Discussed United's Summer Transfer Plan with Glazers
Louis van Gaal revealed he has already informed the Glazers family about the players he wants to buy and sell at Manchester United.
The Holland boss was appointed as United manager on Monday and will be joined by Ryan Giggs as his assistant at Old Trafford. The Dutchman will take charge after finishing the World Cup campaign with his national side.
Van Gaal has admitted that he will make United the No 1 team after they suffered a poor campaign under David Moyes. The Red Devils finished seventh in the table and will not be eligible to feature in either the Champions League or the Europa League next season.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has set his sights on finishing the next season on a high.
"We don't talk about money. We talk about the players I want. We'll see if we can get them. We also talked about who can go," the Telegraph quoted Van Gaal as saying.
"The aim is to bring them back to the No 1 position as soon as possible, because that's where they were under Sir Alex Ferguson."
"United is the biggest club in the world. Marketing-wise, but also if you look at their budget. They have to finish high," the Holland manager said.
Meanwhile, United legend Edwin van der Sar has expressed his joy after the 62-year-old was appointed as Moyes' successor at Old Trafford. The former Red Devils stopper has admitted that he is eagerly looking forward to seeing young talent making it to the first team under the Dutch manager.
Van Gaal is known for promoting youth in his previous clubs and Van der Sar is hoping his former manager will continue the same at Old Trafford.
"Fantastic opportunity for both United and Louis van Gaal to connect their qualities in this crazy World of football. All the best in the UK!" Van der Sar told United's official website.
"Interesting to see which youth players he will bring through in the next years combining them with current squad and new signings," the former United star added.
