Real Madrid beat Serie A side Roma 2-0 in the Champions League round of 16 first leg in Italy Reuters

Real Madrid will look to keep pace with La Liga's top two when they travel to La Rosaleda to take on Malaga on 21 February (Sunday).

Where to watch live

Kick-off is set for 3pm GMT. The game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports 3 HD.

Overview

Malaga's two-match winning run in La Liga came to an end last weekend as they were beaten 1-0 by Villarreal at El Madrigal. The Andalusian side have lost five of their last six head-to-head meetings with Real Madrid.

Midfielders Fernando Tissone (knee) and Hachim Mastour (hamstring) are both out injured, while long-term absentees Chory Castro and Christian Atsu are also sidelined.

Real Madrid are on a four-game winning run in all competitions, with Cristiano Ronaldo's first away goal since November inspiring them to a 2-0 win at Roma in the Champions League round of 16 first leg in midweek. The Santiago Bernabeu outfit have taken 16 out of 18 points in the league since Zinedine Zidane replaced Rafael Benitez as head coach.

Gareth Bale (calf) and Pepe (foot) remain sidelined for the visitors, while centre-back Raphael Varane is suspended.

What managers say

Javi Gracia: "It was a game in which it was difficult to create a lot of goals, so a goal [we conceded] put the game beyond our reach. The game was as expected, with a very strong opponent (Villarreal). We weren't good in the first half. In the second half the match was tight, but we could not threaten them enough."

Zinedine Zidane: "We are seven points behind and it will be difficult, but we are giving it everything and we are all happy. We are going to rest well and think about the Malaga game. On Sunday we will try to do everything to get what we need to get."
