Man arrested in connection with Peterborough torso murder
A 57-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a woman, whose torso was found in a suitcase.
Cambridgeshire Police confirmed that the man, understood to be Vitautas Jokubauskas, was detained in Peterborough at 7pm on Sunday night.
Investigators had earlier launched a manhunt for the Lithuanian national who was known to be letting the property in Mayor's Walk, Peterborough, where the torso was found.
The woman's remains were discovered in the town after tenants at the property complained of a "nasty" smell.
No arms, legs or head were found at the scene and investigators identified the woman as Ramute Butkiene which has been removed from the property.
The murder is being treated as an isolated incident. A cordon is still in place around the property as detailed forensic investigations continue.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out at Peterborough City Hospital on Monday.
