Two men have been arrested in connection with missing teenager Paige Emily Chivers Lancashire Police

A man has been charged with having sex with the dead body of a missing teenager whose disappearance is one of the biggest mysteries of recent years.

Paige Chivers vanished from her home in Bispham, Blackpool in August 2007 and no trace has been seen of her since then.

The trail appeared to have gone cold until police announced today the arrests of two men, including one for the macabre offence of sexual penetration of a corpse.

Robert Ewing, 59, was today charged with murder and intending to pervert the course of justice.

Gareth Dewhurst, 45, was charged with assisting an offender, intending to pervert the course of justice and a sexual charge relating to Chivers' body.

They deny the charges against them. The pair are due at Preston Crown Court next week.
