Warren Murray found himself fighting to keep his camera safe from the creature's eight tentacles when the pair clashed, after Murray disturbed the octopus by shoving his camera in its face.
Wrestling for control of the expensive equipment, Murray only managed to win by repeatedly using the flash on the camera to dazzle the octopus.
Hopefully this sub-aquatic paparazzi learned his lesson and will leave the sea animals in peace in future.
