Manchester United: Angel Di Maria has told club officials that he wants to remain at Old Trafford
Manchester United star Angel Di Maria has reportedly told Louis van Gaal that he has no intention of leaving the Old Trafford club after just one season.
According to the Mirror, the Argentine international is set to extend the lease on the apartment that he is sharing with his family in central Manchester.
Di Maria has had a tough start to his career at Old Trafford and reports suggested that he could leave England after just one season.
The former Real Madrid player and his family were shaken in February when a gang of armed robbers stormed his Cheshire mansion and threatened him at gunpoint, after which he moved into the apartment in the city center.
This episode seemed to have affected the player both on and off the pitch and Van Gaal had made it clear that he was willing to let him leave on compassionate grounds following the incident.
However, Di Maria, who joined from Real in the summer for a British record £59.7m is keen to stay and prove himself in England despite not making the starting XI in recent weeks.
The 27-year-old winger has dropped in form following a blistering start to the season and has failed to score a goal since the start of October last year, when he scored against Everton.
The report claims that Di Maria has told friends that it has been his toughest year and admitted to struggling to adapt to the physical nature of the Premier League.
But it is believed that Van Gaal is still an admirer of the Argentine and is confident that after a season of adaptation, his record signing will come good next campaign.
