Manchester United Boosted as Dante Hints at Old Trafford Move
Manchester United have been given a huge boost in their pursuit of Bayern Munich defender Dante, who has hinted that he may yet be leaving for Mancester United in January though there is no deal in place at the moment.
David Moyes is in the market for a defender with Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand failing to live up to expectations this season. The Red Devils have been leaking goals aplenty and Moyes has earmarked the Brazilian to alleviate his woes at the back. Dante has two years left on his current contract and is currently holding talks with the Bundesliga leaders over a possible extension.
Dante's acquisition will give them some much needed experience at the back, with the player a regular for Bayern and the Brazil national side. However, he is unlikely to provide them a long term solution, with the player turning 31 this year.
Moyes is unperturbed by that situation and is willing to solutions to help him in the immediate future with the rebuilding work expected to drag on into the summer.
When asked if he has signed for United, Dante said,"Not Yet. 'I'm thankful for the Manchester United interest, it will all be sorted out by the end of the month."
United are currently seventh in the league, a staggering 14 points behind league leaders Arsenal and six points behind fourth placed Liverpool. The Red Devils are also looking at a big money swoop for Juan Mata from Chelsea and are reportedly preparing a £37m bid for the Spaniard.
It has been a disastrous to the managerial career for Moyes at Old Trafford and much of the blame has been put on his transfer activity last summer. After putting in bids for Cesc Fabregas, Thiago Alcantara and Ander Herrera, he only managed to secure a deadline day deal for Marouane Fellaini from his former club Everton.
United will take on Sunderland in the second leg of the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup on Wednesday, with the Red Devils trailing the Black Cats 2-1 on aggregate.
