Manchester United duo secure late moves to gain regular first-team experience
Dean Henderson has joined Grimsby Town on loan until January.
Manchester United duo Joel Castro Pereira and Dean Henderson departed on a temporary basis just before the close of the summer transfer window. The duo have joined Portuguese club Belenenses and League Two outfit Grimsby Town respectively.
The former will spend the entire season with the Lisbon-based club and was the Red Devils' final transfer activity on deadline day. The 20-year-old goalkeeper, who has played for both the Switzerland and Portugal youth sides, is on his second consecutive loan spell after spending last season with Rochdale.
"Manchester United goalkeeper Joel Castro Pereira has agreed a loan move to Belenenses in the Reds' final piece of business on transfer deadline day," a statement on United's official site read.
Henderson, on the other hand, is joining the Mariners in League Two on loan until January. He was part of Warren Joyce's Premier League 2 side for their game against Southampton earlier in the season and has also been recently called up to the England U20 side.
The 19-year-old goalkeeper spent a part of last season on loan at Stockport County before being called back by his parent club. Henderson was named on the bench for the 20-time English champions' FA Cup clash against Shrewsbury Town.
"Grimsby Town Football Club are delighted to announce the loan signing of highly rated Manchester United and England under 20's goalkeeper, Dean Henderson on loan until January 2017 subject to EFL approval," a statement on the Mariners' official website read.
Jose Mourinho has sanctioned a number of loan moves for youth-team and first-team players this summer. Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Andreas Pereira, Adnan Januzaj and Guillermo Varela are among those who have been allowed to leave on loan, while some have been allowed to leave on a permanent basis, with the most prominent names being Paddy McNair, Donald Love and Tyler Blackett.
