Manchester United eye summer moves for Antoine Griezmann and Kevin Gameiro
Manchester United are reportedly keen to sign Antoine Griezmann and Kevin Gameiro this summer. New United boss Jose Mourinho is a fan of both players and is currently exploring the possibility of prizing them away from Atletico Madrid and Sevilla respectively.
Mourinho, 53, is determined to acquire a speedy player who can play on the wing to initiate fast counter-attacks and he sees Griezmann, 25, as an ideal signing. Griezmann is a long-time fan of the Red Devils and is thought to be open to a transfer, according to ESPN.
However, the Frenchman has a £63m ($91.4m) release clause and his long-term future is thought to be closely tied to whether or not Diego Simeone remains at Atletico. The Argentine boss recently suggested he is considering his position after they lost to their cross-city rivals Real in last week's Champions League final.
Meanwhile, United are also said to be monitoring the Sevilla striker Gameiro, who struck 29 goals in all competitions last season. The 29-year-old Frenchman also played a key role in the club retaining the Europa League.
Mourinho is thought to want to bring in at least four players over the summer, and United have already been strongly linked to the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and John Stones. The new United boss is reported to have around £200m to spend over the coming months.
