Manchester United news: Goalkeeper Dean Henderson recalled from loan spell at Stockport County
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal cut short Dean Henderson's loan spell at Stockport County on 20 February and the goalkeeper will return to Old Trafford. He joined the Conference North in the January transfer window on a month's loan, with an option to extend the stay at Edgeley Park.
However, injuries to stoppers David de Gea and Sam Johnstone have left the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager with limited options in between the posts. The Spain international was withdrawn from the squad during the Red Devils' 2-1 Europa League defeat at the hands of FC Midtjylland.
A statement on United's official website reads: "Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has been recalled from a loan spell at Stockport County following injuries to fellow shot-stoppers David De Gea and Sam Johnstone."
Sergio Romero replaced De Gea for the European fixture and with Johnstone also on the sidelines, it has left Van Gaal with limited options in the goalkeeping position. IBTimes UK understands the former Atletico Madrid man's injury is not serious, but he will miss the FA Cup fifth round tie.
United make a trip to New Meadow as they face Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup clash on Monday evening. According to the Manchester Evening News, Henderson will be included in the squad.
Van Gaal is already without several key players and De Gea was the latest to join the injury list. Wayne Rooney, Matteo Darmian, Ashley Young, Marouane Fellaini, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Adnan Januzaj, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Guillermo Varela, Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo are all out on the sidelines.
