Manchester United register interest with Torino in signing Chelsea target Andrea Belotti
Belotti signed a contract extension last December that will keep him at Torino until 2021.
Manchester United are planning to strengthen their attack for the next season and Jose Mourinho has set his sights on signing Torino star Andrea Belotti in the summer.
According to ESPN FC, the Red Devils have approached the Serie A club to register their interest in the Italian international. The Portuguese tactician used Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the main man to lead his side's attack in the ongoing campaign.
In addition, he also has the services of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney. United's all-time leading goalscorer will be allowed to leave the club after the end of the season.
Ibrahimovic picked up a knee injury against Anderlecht in April. The Swedish striker underwent a surgery and is expected to be out of action until January 2018. His contract at Old Trafford expires in the summer and Mourinho can utilise his service next year, if United decides to hand him a new deal.
Rooney is set for United exit and the former Paris Saint-Germain star set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Mourinho has decided to bring in two attackers in the upcoming transfer window and has identified Belotti as one of the targets.
Belotti signed a contract extension in December and a new deal will keep him at Torino until 2021. Torino president Urbano Cairo earlier revealed his star player has a release clause of €100m (£84.6m, $109.6m), which is applicable if the striker joins a club outside Italy.
United are also interested in signing Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann. The France international is Mourinho's top target and can only secure his services if they manage to qualify for the Champions League.
Belotti fits Mourinho's profile of a traditional centre-forward. Should United sign Torino star, he will take Ibrahimovic's position at Old Trafford. He has been in fine form for the Serie A outfit this season, scoring 25 goals and registering five assists in 31 league appearances.
The 23-year-old's form for Sinisa Mihajlovic's side has not gone unnoticed as he is attracting interest from the Premier League. Chelsea are also interested in signing Belotti, reports the Daily Mail.
Antonio Conte is targeting at signing two new forwards in the summer. The Italian manager has set his sights on his compatriot and Everton star Romelu Lukaku as Diego Costa is likely to leave Stamford Bridge.
