Manchester United Set to Beat Liverpool and Tottenham for Yevhen Konoplyanka
Manchester United are considering a move in signing Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur summer target Yevhen Konoplyanka, according to talkSPORT.
The Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk winger was set to complete his switch to Anfield in the January transfer window, before the deal collapsed on deadline day. The Merseyside club are still keen on securing Konoplyanka's services, while Spurs are also in the race for his signature.
The report claims the Red Devils are set to beat both Liverpool and Spurs in landing the Ukrainian international as United are in pole position for Konoplyanka's signature. The 24-year-old has a £12m release clause, which the interested clubs need to meet in order to sign him.
United's incoming manager Louis van Gaal is believed to be interested in signing Konoplyanka and the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss is set to trigger his buyout clause.
Dnipro sporting director Andrey Stetsenko has admitted the club have already sent scouts in order to find a replacement for Konoplyanka. The Ukrainian outfit are resigned to lose their star player in the coming transfer window.
"Our scouts are working to find his replacement. Sooner or later Konoplyanka will leave Dnipro. We know that English, Spanish and German clubs are monitoring the situation and are interested in the player. But we have had no offers," Stetsenko explained.
"His contract has a buyout clause worth €15m for foreign clubs. For Ukrainian clubs the buyout is more."
"Konoplyanka spoke to me and said that if he did not have offers from foreign clubs in the future it would not be a problem. He would stay with us with pleasure and continue to play for Dnipro," he concluded.
Meanwhile, Stetsenko also went on to stress that Brendan Rodgers's side has not made any contact with Dnipro after the January transfer window for a potential transfer of Konoplyanka to Anfield.
"After negotiations in the winter Liverpool did not contact us further about Konoplyanka," Dnipro sporting director added.
The report from talkSPORT also states the talented winger has set his sights on playing in the Premier League. United could beat Liverpool and Spurs in landing Konoplyanka in the summer transfer window, despite no Champions League football at Old Trafford next season.
