Manchester United Target Move for Ajax Winger Viktor Fischer - Report
Manchester United are considering an approach for Ajax winger Viktor Fischer, according to the Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
The 19-year-old came up through the ranks of the Dutch club's youth system, before breaking into the first team in 2012. Fischer managed 10 goals in 17 league appearances last season, while this season he has already scored three and registered one assist in 15 appearances.
Fischer's contract at Ajax runs down in 2017. A Bola claims the winger is available for €11m. The winger's impressive form has attracted interest from clubs from England and across Europe.
The report claims that apart from the Premier League champions, United's league rivals Chelsea and Manchester City are also believed to be interested.
United could also face competition from treble winners Bayern Munich and Italian giants AS Roma.
The Danish international was a key member of Ajax's title-winning side last season. He was named Ajax Talent of the Year for his brilliant displays.
David Moyes has the services of Adnan Januzaj, Antonio Valencia, Luis Nani, Ashley Young and Wilfried Zaha on the wings. However, Sir Alex Ferguson's final signing at Old Trafford has not been used regularly by the Scot this season.
The former Everton manager has used Valcenia and Januzaj on the wide positions, while using Nani as the third choice winger. Meanwhile, Young has failed to impress this term and his poor form has seen him receive criticism from fans and football pundits.
Meanwhile, United defender Rio Ferdinand has urged his team-mates to seal all three points against Swansea City in the league tie at Old Trafford. Moyes's side crashed out of the FA Cup in a 2-1 defeat to the Welsh side last week.
"It's a huge game for us. We need to win. We need to get our form going and get some momentum. We had a good bit of momentum going before the New Year and then we lost some games. We need to get back on track," Ferdinand told United's website.
