Manchester United 1-0 Sheffield United: FA Cup third round live
Martial is clipped out on the left and United have one more chance to work something. It's dragged back to Blind in a move we have seen a few times this season where the Dutchman breaks away to take the shot on. It worked when he found the back of the net against Liverpool in December, it doesn't this time when he skies it over the bar. And that will be that for the first half.
What a waste of a set piece. The short one comes to nothing so Mata picks the ball up and pings a pass into the feet of Herrera, who can't control it quickly enough. Luckily for them, they now have another free kick closer in after a blatant handball from Hammond. Rooney and Mata stand over it from about 30 yards out.
We are five minutes from kick off at Old Trafford. There have been 27 other FA Cup third round games already today, but no real shocks to tell you about. Non-league Eastleigh almost took the headlines when they went ahead against Bolton, but the Championship side fought back to claim a draw and a replay.
Bristol City were within a few seconds of eliminating West Brom until James Morrison scored an equaliser with virtually the last kick of the game.
Elsewhere, Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Everton, West Brom and Manchester City were among the sides to progress to the fourth round of the competition.
Louis van Gaal has opted for a strong XI for this evening's clash. With the exception of Borthwick-Jackson and Fellaini coming in, it is pretty much the strongest side available to the manager.
Of course there is so Adnan Januzaj in the squad today, the Belgian is likely to feature in a couple of Under-21 games before he is considered for the first team having started just two games in the last four months.
BREAKING: Cameron Borthwick-Jackson comes into the starting XI as Daley Blind moves back in to centre half alongside Chris Smalling.
Manchester United team to face Sheffield United: De Gea, Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Borthwick-Jackson, Schweinsteiger, Fellaini, Herrera, Mata, Martial, Rooney
Subs: Romero, McNair, Varela, Lingard, Pereira, Memphis, Keane
Will the visit of League One Sheffield United help remedy Manchester United's woes in front of goal? Louis van Gaal's goal shy side have scored just five goals in their last seven games and while their 2-1 win over Norwich last week halted their fall somewhat, their performance was still devoid of the attacking flair the Dutchman promised upon his arrival at Old Trafford.
On Friday, Adnan Januzaj returned to the club after Borussia Dortmund cancelled his loan deal. The Belgium international won't be in contention this evening, however. Having started just two games during his brief spell in Germany, Van Gaal first wants the 20-year-old to get his fitness up to grade first with a couple of outings with the Under-21 side
Jesse Lingard is available again however having recovered from a hamstring injury but Phil Jones is once again injured with an ankle injury.
Sheffield United meanwhile have Matt Done back among their ranks after the winger recovered from a hamstring problem of his own.
