It was another night of surprises. A day after their neighbours Manchester United tasted defeat at the hands of Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City too were humbled by a team which is nowhere in the top league.
Roberto Mancini's side, which leads the Premier League table at the moment, was beaten 0-1 by Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday evening.
The visitors had plenty of chances but failed to cash in on them. The clash went goalless until time, but a surprising intervention by Sunderland's Ji Dong-Won sealed the victory in favour of the home squad. The South Korean striker had an empty net before him to tackle when he scored the winner on 93 minutes.
City lost the opportunity to open up a three-point gap over rivals United in the league points table.
