Margaret Thatcher, Britain's longest-serving and only female Prime Minister, has died at the age of 87.
Lord Bell, Baroness Thatcher's spokesman, confirmed that the Conservative leader died at the Ritz hotel after suffering a stroke.
Thatcher won three general elections - in 1979, 1983 and 1987 - before being forced to step down in 1990. She finally retired from politics in 1992.
Over the years many stars have embodied the role of Thatcher, known for her hard-hitting leadership style, in films, television series, theatre and documentaries.
In 2011's Iron lady, Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep delivered a stunning performance in the film that recalls the life of the former British prime minister.
Janet Brown also found fame impersonating the Politian and then finally playing her in James Bond movie For Your Eyes Only (1981).
