Market round-up: FTSE 100 falls as Greece warns of 'painful' road to debt default
The FTSE 100 continued to trend downward on 17 June as Greece's central bank cautioned a "painful" road lay ahead as it limps toward debt default.
A meeting at the US Federal Reserve also suppressed optimism after inklings of a rate rise.
"Gold recovery specialist Goldplat's shares were up after it revealed it was making progress on clearing a backlog of by-product material," said analysts AJ Bell investors. "Goldplat's inability to process has severely impacted profits and cash flows during the past nine months and it aims to clear the backlog by December."
The FTSE 100 continued to trend downward hitting 6,680.55, -0.44% on the previous day's 6,710.10.
TV producer Ten Alps agreed a £5m deal for Reef Television. Ten Alps has conditionally raised £4.5m through a placing of 173.9 million new shares and a subscription of 51.1 million new shares at 2p each to fund the deal and for working capital.
Supermarkets also took another hit. After Credit Suisse said it "sees few opportunities within a group that has historically misallocated capital", Morrisons, Marks and Spencer and Tesco all fell roughly 1%.
