Superstar Beyoncé and her sister Solange have snubbed the wedding of their showbiz father, Mathew Knowles.

The 61-year-old music manager got hitched to former model Gena Avery in Houston, Texas - but neither of his daughters turned up.

"Beyoncé and Solange had previous engagements which made it impossible for them to attend," Knowles told TMZ.

Knowles - who was also Beyoncé's former manager - tied the knot with Avery after an 18-month engagement.

The couple got together after Knowles split from the mother of Beyoncé and Solanges, Tina Knowles, in 2009.

She filed for divorce after 31 years of marriage when it was revealed that he had had an affair with actress Alexsandra Wright and father a baby boy, Nixon, by her.

In the wake of the scandal, Beyoncé ended her professional relationship with her father, although she insisted that their personal relationship remained full of love.

"My dad knew that I needed his approval," Beyoncé said in her Life is But a Dream documentary earlier this year. "And I think my father wouldn't give it to me. Because he kept pushing me. And kept pushing me. And kept pushing me. Every time my dad pushed me, I got better and stronger."

"I needed a break, I needed my dad," she said. "I had to let go."

Knowles, head of Music World Entertainment, still manages several gospel acts including Grammy-winner Le'Andria Johnson.
