May bank holiday: When are Sainsbury's, Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Aldi, Waitrose, Iceland and Lidl open?
The month of May will see two bank holiday weekends. The first one falls on 2 May, Monday, meaning Britons will have an extended weekend holiday. For all those who want to visit a supermarket to stock up supplies, we give the opening timings of Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's and a few other retailers from 29 April to 2 May.
Tesco
29 April to 1 May (Friday–Sunday): All stores will operate under normal opening hours.
Monday 2 May: Across England and Wales Tesco stores will operate between 9am and 6pm, while a few selected Tesco Express stores will operate under normal opening hours. In Scotland, all Tesco Extra stores will operate under normal opening hours, while Superstores will operate between 8am and 8pm and Metro stores will operate between 9am and 6pm, according to Mirror.

Sainsbury's
29 April to 1 May (Friday–Sunday): All Sainsbury's main stores, local stores and petrol stations will operate under normal opening hours
Monday 2 May:Leaving some exceptions, all Sainsbury's stores will operate between 9am and 7pm
