Meghan Markle 'anxious' Kate Middleton will outshine her in US: report
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be in New York four days after the Prince and Princess of Wales' Boston visit on Dec. 2.
Prince William and Kate Middleton's visit to the U.S.A. in December has reportedly left Meghan Markle worried that they will overshadow her and Prince Harry's popularity.
The Prince and Princess of Wales will be in Boston on Dec. 2 for the prestigious Earthshot Prize Awards. Details about their visit remain private, but Closer UK in its Nov. 29 issue, claimed that it has made the Duchess of Sussex "increasingly anxious."
One source told the publication that the former "Suits" star will "put a brave face on." But she is reportedly "hurting a bit" because she knows "Kate and William are still very much liked and respected in the U.S." and that she "couldn't hold a candle to Kate" when it comes to being an essential part of the royal family.
"There's already so much love and affection toward Kate across the pond. Press and the U.S. media find her fascinating and see her as the modern-day Diana since she's able to connect to people by being grounded and real," the insider said.
Meghan Markle is allegedly worried that the Prince and Princess of Wales' U.S. visit will overshadow a big moment for her and Prince Harry at the "Ripple of Hope" gala in New York on Dec. 6, where they will receive an award.
The source added, "Instead of being the centre of attention, Meghan will be worried that it'll be all about Kate. The news media will swoon over her and William. Kate very much has the edge over Meghan right now in the popularity stakes."
The insider claimed that Prince William and Kate Middleton will likely meet with some of the people who are friends with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex if ever they visit New York. "It's fair to say that Meghan will not be happy if her closest friends were to be spending time with Kate. It's a real test for Meghan's nerves, as well as Harry's, of course since relations between him and William are still at rock bottom."
However, readers should take the source's claims with a grain of salt. There is no confirmation yet if Prince William and Kate Middleton will visit New York after their trip to Boston, as their itinerary has so far remained private. As for their popularity in the U.S.A., that remains to be seen when they finally land on American soil.
