Spanish and European powerhouses Real Madrid and FC Barcelona were both in action, during Journada (Matchday) 21 of La Liga - Spain's top flight domestic football championship.

The capital club made the short trip across the city of Madrid, to take on local rivals Getafe in a match that was regarded as a potentially tricky one... particularly since they had only just extended their lead over Barcelona to 7 points following their hated rival's draw, last weekend, to their city cousins, RCD Espanyol. With Barcelona itching to make amends and Madrid maybe displaying a few signs of overconfidence, everything, it seemed, was just right for a few upsets.

As it turned out however, the dogged determination of Madrid's Spanish centre back, Sergio Ramos, and the usual brilliance of Barcelona's Argentine wizard Leo Messi, was enough to see both sides collect three points.
