Michael Buble's son begins treatment to shink tumour before surgery
Surgery to remove the growth in the toddler's liver is scheduled for the end of December.
Michael Buble's three-year-old son Noah has started treatment for liver cancer, it has been reported.
The singer and his wife Luisana Lopilato confirmed the devastating news that their eldest son had been diagnosed with liver cancer in November after a liver biopsy following an initial examination at a clinic in Buenos Aires
According to Argentinian press, Noah is said to have started chemotherapy last month. Doctors are now hoping the chemotherapy treatment will shrink the tumour so that it is small enough to operate on.
Surgery to remove the growth is scheduled for the end of December, Mail Online reports.
After doctors in Los Angeles confirmed Michael and Luisana's worst fears, the couple issued a statement on Facebook, reporting the sad news that their son has cancer as they announced they would be putting their careers 'on hold' to devote time to Noah's recovery.
"We are devastated about the recent cancer diagnosis of our oldest son Noah who is currently undergoing treatment in the US. We have always been very vocal about the importance of family and the love we have for our children.
"Luisana and I have put our careers on hold in order to devote all our time and attention to helping Noah get well. We have a long journey in front of us and hope that with the support of family, friends and fans around the world, we will win this battle, God willing."
The shock diagnosis left the family "broken in half" however Buble's sister-in-law Daniella said that her nephew is "a warrior" who would fight the disease.
"We have faith in Noah being able to overcome this," she said. "We know he will. The time to start a long and very difficult treatment has come but it's got to be done. They say children are normally strong to put up with chemotherapy and my nephew is a warrior."
Since the news broke, fans and friends of the singer have been sending messages of support to Buble and his family.
Josh Groban wrote on Twitter: "My family & I send all our love &prayers to @michaelbuble's 3 year old son Noah as fights cancer. Stay strong little guy."
Christina Perri tweeted: "Adding little Noah Bublé to my prayers everyday. I hope you do the same".
The official Twitter account for Macmillan Cancer wrote: "We're saddened to hear about the cancer diagnosis of Michael Buble's son, Noah. We're sending the family and their loved ones our thoughts."
