Michael Weatherly has an interesting idea for NCIS and Bull crossover: Get the details here
Weatherly quit the hit NCIS show in the season 13 finale that aired in May.
Michael Weatherly has an interesting idea for an NCIS and Bull crossover. The actor, who recently quit the Naval Criminal Investigative Service to join a new show Bull – inspired by the early career of Dr Phil McGraw, pitched a crossover featuring his NCIS character Tony DiNozzo making an appearance on his current show.
Weatherly told TV Guide, "Might be interesting to actually have Tony be on Bull. Think about it. We do one of those split-screen-Hayley Mills-Parent Trap things. But Bull's got glasses on, and he's like, 'Hey, we look a lot like each other.' And then DiNozzo's like, 'No, I'm stronger than you.' And then Bull's like, 'Well, I think I'm thinner than you.'"
"I dunno. Could be interesting. . . . Maybe Season 4 or 5, when we need a little punch in the ratings," the 48-year-old actor teased.
Weatherly, who left the hit NCIS show in the season 13 finale, spoke to ET Online about leaving the show and joked that he "overstayed" his welcome. The actor who had been with the show for 13 years said, "The character had to leave at some point. I should've left years ago, but I was having so much fun I overstayed my welcome horribly — like that guest who won't leave and keeps digging into your fridge."
The CBS network had released a statement following the actor's departure from NCIS, which read, "He is a valued part of the CBS family, and the immense charm and talent he brings to the screen as 'Very' Special Agent Tony DiNozzo has helped make NCIS what it is today — the #1 drama in the world."
"We thank Michael for all of his contributions to this successful franchise and look forward to continuing to develop projects with him as part of our ongoing development deal," the statement added.
Weatherly currently stars as Dr Jason Bull in Bull, which airs every Tuesday at 9pm EST on CBS Network.
