Microsoft releases list of handsets eligible for Windows 10 Mobile Creators Update
The update will be released on 25 April.
Microsoft has confirmed that only 13 smartphones running Windows 10 Mobile will be eligible to receive the Creators Update, which would begin rolling out on 25 April.
The list includes HP Elite x3, Microsoft Lumia 550, Lumia 640/640XL, Lumia 650, Lumia 950/950 XL, Alcatel IDOL 4S, OneTouch Fierce XL, SoftBank 503LV, VAIO Phone Biz, MouseComputer MADOSMA Q601 and Trinity NuAns NEO.
The Redmond-based tech giant in a blog post on 14 April explained, "Devices not on this list will not officially receive the Windows 10 Creators Update nor will they receive any future builds from our Development Branch that we release as part of the Windows Insider Program. However, Windows Insiders who have devices not on this list can still keep these devices on the Windows 10 Creators Update at their own risk knowing that it's unsupported."
"We looked at feedback from our Windows Insiders and realized that we were not providing the best possible experience for our customers on many older devices. That helped us determine which devices we support for the Windows 10 Creators Update."
Along with releasing the list of Windows 10 Mobile Creators Update compatible handsets, the company also released a preview build bearing version 16176 for PC to members of Windows Insiders Program in Fast Ring. It also released Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build 15204 to Insiders in Fast Ring.
The roll-out was made public by Dona Sarkar, software engineer from Windows and Devices Group, who said Windows Insiders will notice that the build number and branch won't match the build released for PC. The preview builds for both PC and mobile bring a number of improvements and fixes. But a few issues are still present in both mobile and PC, which would be fixed over due course of development.
