Microsoft reopens pre-orders for Lumia 950 and 950 XL in UK
Microsoft has once again opened pre-orders for its flagship Lumia Windows 10 handsets in the UK, and shipments will begin on 3 December. Michael Gillett, Microsoft MVP, says prospective buyers should act quickly before the pre-order window closes.
Microsoft initially started pre-orders towards the end of October but soon announced a closure. The reason given by Gillett was that the pre-orders were not meant to go live so early. However, you may now head over to the Microsoft Store to select your desired Lumia model. The Lumia 950 XL is currently available at £529.99 whereas the 950 is priced at £449.99, as against the previous price tags of £549.99 and £499.99 respectively.
Meanwhile, Amazon UK has slashed the retail prices of the Lumia phones. The Lumia 950 XL is now £50 less at £479.99, whereas the Lumia 950 is at £429.99 which was previously £449.99. The phones will arrive at Amazon stores on 12 December.
Microsoft unveiled the Lumia phones alongside a bunch of new Windows 10 hardware including Surface Book, Surface Pro 4, Band 2 and Microsoft HoloLens for developers. An affordable 4G LTE smartphone running Windows 10 - Lumia 550 - was also launched at an event held on 6 October. The phone is yet to go on pre-order, although Microsoft says it will be released in select European markets in December, with additional markets to follow soon.
