Microsoft to unveil Windows 10 devices on 6 October
As has been reported previously, Microsoft will not make any announcement related to its Windows 10 devices at the IFA 2015 event, and instead hold an event separately in October. Microsoft has just made an announcement about its media event scheduled for 6 October at 10am (EDT) in New York.
The invite does not reveal any information about the upcoming products other than saying "Windows 10 devices" but it is widely expected that the Redmond-based tech major will introduce multiple devices including the flagship Windows 10 Mobile phones Lumia Talkman (Lumia 950) and Cityman (Lumia 950 XL), Surface Pro 4 and Microsoft Band 2. The hardware specifications for Lumia 950 and its large-screen sibling have surfaced on several occasions via leaks. Lumia 950 is likely to come with a 5.2in screen against the 5.7in screen of the 950 XL. The Qualcomm Snapdragon series will be the driving force inside the Lumias coupled with a 3GB RAM. However, Lumia 950 will use a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 whereas Lumia 950 XL will come with an octa-core Snapdragon 810. Apart from these, expect 20 megapixel PureView cameras on both the handsets.
The Surface Pro 4, on the other hand, is expected to have an ultra-thin form factor, bezel and large display like the previous Surface series. Rumour further suggests the use of a new Skylake processor and Windows 10 operating system.
Besides, the latest buzz has it that Microsoft might be planning two new Surface 2-in-1 devices, one coming with a 12in screen and the other with a 13 to 14in screen. So don't be surprised if Microsoft brings out a 14in Surface model.
