Milan Fashion Week 2013: Armani and Versace put Winning Runway Show in Italy [PHOTOS]
As the Milan Fashion Week entered its third eventful day, two of Italy's most prominent fashion houses – Versace and Armani – presented captivating shows on the runway.
Versace and Armani presented their women's wear creations for the Spring/Summer 2014 show, Milano Moda Donna, which is taking place at the Fiera Milano exhibition centre in Milan.
While both the fashion giants turned heads to their collection, each of their collections featured contrasting styles.
Armani showcased the creations from its Emporio Armani line that features high-end luxury clothes. Two and three-piece ensembles were the highlight of the collection and included rippling skirts, silky dresses and balloon tops worn over loose trousers, leggings and ankle-length palazzos.
But what stole the show at Armani's show were silky and jacquard jackets in various designs worn by models with every creation. Designer Giorgio Armani told Reuters that the collection was themed on water lilies and featured fabrics that were "soft, with a certain light transparency".
Floral prints ruled the spring-summer 2014 collection by Versace as well. The fashion house put a high-end show featuring evening dresses, T-shirts, flippy skirts, shimmering partywear ensembles, sheer dresses and high platform sandals.
Floral prints have become a norm at the Milan Fashion Week so far with many designers showcasing their creations of contrasting flower motifs, something which is not in vogue. However, fashion experts believe that there is no such thing as trends in fashion today.
"What is good in fashion is the freedom... (Otherwise) we'd be slaves of the trends," said Franca Sozzani, editor of the Italian edition of Vogue magazine.
