Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth call it quits within eight months of marriage
Given the couple's relationship history and fundamental differences, the breakup does not come as a shocker.
Twitterati is abuzz with Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth officially calling it quits. Fans eagerly followed the couple ever since they starred together in The Last Song. It has not even been a year since the couple got married in December 2018. However, after years of being in an on again-off again relationship, the couple has decided to end marriage by getting a divorce.
Many fans are mourning the breakup after Cyrus made it public over Instagram. The spilt does not come as a surprise to the couple's friends and family. Since their wedding, the young couple has had many fundamental differences. Even though they had been living together, the marriage seemed to take their relationship to the next level, which neither was prepared for. Sources have stated that the couple was not on the same page when it came to fundamental things in the relationship.
Looking back at the couple's almost 10-year-long courtship, it is unsurprising that the relationship has been called off.
After the release of The Last Song in 2010, the teenagers had been seeing each other till they broke up due to Cyrus' hectic schedule. In 2010 the couple reportedly broke up twice!
Between 2011 and 2013, Cyrus and Hemsworth revived their relationship and got engaged. Cyrus and Hemsworth broke off their engagement before Cyrus started the Twerk trend and wrote Wrecking Ball.
Cyrus tried to move on by dating Patrick Schwarzenegger in 2014. The short six-month courtship ended after Schwarzenegger was spotted cheating on Cyrus. In 2015, Cyrus came out as pansexual but refused rumours of a relationship with Stella Maxwell.
The couple got back together again in 2016. Cyrus went back to wearing her engagement ring. During her 2016 interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Cyrus confirmed that they were engaged again but were not interested in getting a "legal document signed and dated."
Before their December wedding, Cyrus deleted all her Instagram pictures. The rumour mill again discussed a probable breakup. Yet, the couple managed to quash the breakup rumours by finally tying the knot.
Now, eight months later, the "on again-off again" cycle has reached its "off again" phase. Cyrus was seen kissing Kaitlynn Carter, Brody Jenner's ex, in Italy. According to her Instagram post, Cyrus has claimed that post her breakup "change is inevitable".
What remains to be seen is when does the couple get back together, if they do so at all.
