Miley Cyrus skips Met Gala to prove to Liam Hemsworth that he is her 'top priority'

Miley Cyrus does not want to be anywhere else these days than spend some quality time with Liam Hemsworth. The Wrecking Ball singer decided to skip the Met Gala to be with her partner and prove to him that he is her "top priority".

Just a day before, the 23-year-old singer was spotted with her partner at LA airport, holding hands and rocking a diamond ring, despite the actor previous slamming engagement rumours. On 1 May, Cyrus and the 26-year-old actor were also spotted enjoying a romantic holiday in Australia. The couple visited Liam's brother Chris Hemsworth and his family.

The Met Gala is one of the most glamorous fashion event of the year. Cyrus had attended the previous gala, for which she wore a revealing sexy mesh gown that left onlookers stunned. However, this time Cyrus did not shock her fans with any outrageous new look.

"Miley would have loved to have gone to the Met Gala and knows she would have totally rocked it with this year's theme of Fashion in the Age of Technology. However, being with Liam was more important," a source told HollywoodLife.

"It was important for her to let him know that he and their relationship is her top priority. She wouldn't want to be anywhere else than with him right now."

Miley and Liam first began dating each other in 2009 after meeting on the sets of their movie The Last Song. The two got engaged in 2012 but parted ways in September 2013. Cyrus and Liam got back together at the end of 2015.

As of now the couple have not announced their wedding date. However, a source previously told US Weekly that Miley "wants a summer wedding".
