Miley Cyrus's $102,500 (£61,000) Maserati sports car was reportedly stolen during a burglary at her Los Angeles mansion.

According to TMZ, two thieves scaled the fence of the 21-year-old singer's multi-million dollar home and made off with her 2014 Maserati Quattropote and an unspecified amount of jewellery.

Cyrus, who is currently on the European Leg of her Bangerz tour, was not believed to be at home at the time of the buglary but was reportedly in tears over the loss of the luxury sports car and tweeted that she was "crying in the shower".

The singer has been working with the police after her assistant discovered that personal items had been removed at the property over the weekend. A source said there was no sign of forced entry and officers are examining the singer's home CCTV footage.

A fingerprint unit was also sent to visit the star's property to comb for forensic clues.

This is not the first time thieves have targeted her property. In November 2013, $100,000 worth of purses and jewellery was stolen from the Wrecking Ball singer's home on the weekend of her 21st birthday.

Thieves stole the vintage Chanel purse which Cyrus carried when she was photographed smoking a suspicious-looking roll-up cigarette at the European Music Awards last year.

The former Disney star was said to have been 'really shaken up' and 'extremely upset' after the personal items were taken.

In a separate incident the star took out a temporary restraining order against a man who was detained by police while trying to meet her.
