Money In The Bank 2016 results: Dean Ambrose crowned new WWE heavyweight champion

WWE Money In The Bank 2016 saw Seth Rollins and John Cena make a return after recovering from their respective injuries. However, both superstars were unsuccessful in their endeavours inside the ring.

The biggest winner of the night (19 June) was Dean Ambrose, while Roman Reigns was among the losers.

In the Money In The Bank ladder match, Ambrose clinched the briefcase from among five other wrestlers. He then cashed it in when he ambushed Rollins from behind and pinned him to win the WWE world heavyweight title. Rollins, just minutes before, had won the title from Reigns, who until his latest bout had managed to steamroll through his opponents.

1. Money In The Bank ladder match

Dean Ambrose emerged victorious in a match contested by the likes of Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, Sami Zayn, Cesaro and Alberto Del Rio.

2. WWE world heavyweight championship match

During the final minutes of the fight, Reigns went for a spear but Rollins countered him with a signature move – the pedigree. Rollins then went for a second pedigree and pinned the former world heavyweight champion for the win.

3. AJ Styles vs John Cena

Cena had the match won, but the referee got knocked out of the ring after the wrestler attempted a second AA. As the referee was unconscious, The Club showed up and thrashed Cena cold before placing Styles on top of Cena. When the referee regained consciousness he made the three count and judged Styles the winner.

4. WWE Tag Team Championship match

The New Day emerged champions in the four-way match which was contested by The Vaudevillains, Enzo Amore and Big Cass; and The Club. During the match, The Club hit a Magic Killer on Aiden English. However, New Day hit Karl Anderson with the Midnight Hour and pinned English for the win.

5. WWE United States Championship match

Rusev defeated Titus O'Niell via submission to retain his title.

6. Charlotte & Dana Brooke vs Natalya & Becky Lynch

Charlotte and Dana Brooke defeated Natalya and Becky Lynch via pinfall.

7. Apollo Crews vs Sheamus (Kickoff match)

Sheamus was complaining to the referee about the two count after he had hit Apollo Crews with White Noise. Crews then saw his window of opportunity and carried out a crucifix pin for the win.
