Monica Bellucci Splits from Vincent Cassel After 14 Years of Marriage
Italian actress and former fashion model Monica Bellucci has reportedly split from husband of 14 years, French film star Vincent Cassel.
"Vincent Cassel confirms that he is separating from his wife Monica Bellucci by mutual agreement," his spokesperson told a local Italian newspaper.
The couple met while making the Gilles Mimouni-directed French film The Apartment (L'Appartement) in 1996 and got married in 1999. They have two daughters together, eight-year-old Deva and three-year-old Léonie.
The couple reportedly lead separate lives with Bellucci staying at an apartment in Rome and Cassel spending much of his time in Paris and Brazil.
The 48-year-old actress had talked about their relationship in an interview in the February issue of Vanity Fair Spain.
"I never get involved in the choice of his papers nor in mine. We are very independent, we live in different worlds: his friends are your friends, mine are different," she said.
In April, Cassel told Closer magazine, that the two have separate personal lives.
"My wife and me are very different animals. This is probably the key to our relationship after 18 years together...We don't seek other people's approval," he said.
Bellucci, who is well known for her roles in films like The Matrix Reloaded and The Passion of the Christ, was previously married to Italian photographer Claudio Basso for four years, before divorcing him in 1994. She is currently in Serbia working on her next film with Emir Kusturica.
Meanwhile, Cassel shot to fame after starring in the 1995 film La Haine (Hatred), and has featured in several Hollywood movies, including Black Swan and Ocean's Twelve.
