Mother released on bail after 10-year-old boy found dead in caravan
The mother of a 10-year-old boy, who was found dead in a caravan in Birmingham, has been released on bail.
A woman was arrested by West Midland's Police for negligence leading to the death of a 10-year-old boy. The woman was identified as the boy's mother and was later released on bail as investigation is ongoing.
On Thursday morning, emergency services at Blossomville Way, Acocks Green, Birmingham were called to respond to an emergency call. The responders found a 10-yer-old boy unconscious in a caravan. The callers reported that they had found the boy unresponsive and alone, before calling emergency services.
Emergency responders were unable to revive the child on-site. The child was transported to Heartlands Hospital where doctors tried to revive him as well. Later, the doctors confirmed that the child was deceased. An investigation has been launched to find out what led to the death of the minor.
Doctors were unable to identify the cause of death. The child's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination in the hopes that it would reveal the cause of death.
The mother of the child had been arrested by the police for negligence leading to the child's death.
However, since cause of death is unclear, the mother was released on bail. Detective Inspector John Davenport, who is working on the case, said that the boy had some health issues already. Recently, the boy was supposedly admitted to the hospital due to health issues.
The post-mortem report can point out any health problems that the child had and if they had anything to do with the child's death. If the child was unwell and unattended to, then the primary-caregiver might face charges of negligence.
A neighbour, who did not wish to be named, recalled that the parents of the child were not at home when the child was found. The parents returned in the afternoon and were met by the police, according to The Sun.
A tweet from the police department shared the news of the boy's death with the community.
