Cal Crutchlow took full advantage of the home conditions to secure pole position in the qualifying session of the British Grand Prix on 3 September. The Brit finished ahead of seven-time champion Valentino Rossi, who came in second.

Qualifying review
Crutchlow delighted the home crowd in the qualifying session of the British Grand Prix on Saturday to secure pole position, lapping nearly a full second clear of his nearest rival Rossi.
Crutchlow who clocked 2:19.265s became the first rider from Britian to secure pole at Silverstone since Barry Sheene in 1977. This was his third career pole and the first since Brno in 2013.
Yamaha's Rossi and Suzuki's Maverick Vinales finished second and third respectively while championship leader Marc Marquez of Honda could only finish in the fifth place after clocking 2:20.779s.
