Overview
Maverick Vinales of Suzuki has not lived up to his promise so far, but he showed just why you can't write him off to finish the second Free Practice session on top. The Spaniard suffered a high-speed crash at Turn 11 but did not let that deter him, showing determination to get back on the circuit and finish the job he had started.
The Suzuki rider clocked 1:22.161s just slightly ahead of Ducati's Andrea Iannone who finished second clocking 1:22.381s. Iannone was in the thick of the action on 15 July, finishing the Free Practice session one in first place.
Defending champion Marc Marquez rounded up the top three while seven-time MotoGP winner Italian Valentino Rossi had a day to forget, finding himself in 14th place at the end of the day.
